The one thing that we can ask is for commentators to be knowledgeable about the games they're announcing. Now, the question is whether the decision-makers believe that it's cute to put a clueless person in the mix, or if they just don't realize that they're that clueless.

Verlander: 4-0 lead, 86 pitches, through 8. Apparently done.
    Last pitch clocked at 96.

Opening day. Sunny. Comfortable weather despite a bit of wind. Honoring both Seaver and Robinson. My wife surprised me by flying my best friend in and getting the three of us tickets to the game. How's that for a great 50th birthday?

The minors began really enforcing the pitch clock on Friday (according to the Mariners' announcers). Small sample size, but average game time on Day 1 of serious enforcement went from 3:03 the day before to 2:38. Now sure, lots of factors involved, but this isn't a coincidence.
