Even though it was in the supplemental, the Browns did draft Kosar in 1985. And he was pretty freaking good.

Man I loved Kosar as QB, he was the epitome of one in the early 80’s. One of my most memorable scenes was just before Flutie threw the prayer, the Caines were at the goal line and Kosar goes to the sideline to talk to Schnellenberger and Kosar says something along the lines of “lets score this f**king touchdown” (which was not bleeped out) and I said “that’s a QB!”

I am happy for Pickett. He certainly got what he wanted. I'm not as worried about the fan base. I think there will be growing pains. There are some throws he tries to make that he won't get away with in the NFL. Those are going to turn into interceptions, at least at first. That said, he's a tough kid, mentally and physically. I think he can take it.

The were pussy-footing around about what to call and he said "Let's play football! Run right the fuck at 'em!" It was picked up plain as day on live TV. They did run right the fuck at them and they scored."

Then Flutie threw some pass or something, and then we all watched the Dukes of Hazard, Dallas and Falcon Crest. Tonight, on CBS #Mussburger. Luckily, Kosar was able to bounce back and avoid losing any more games in such heart-breaking fashion.

Kosar's elbow injury in Year 3, coupled with his team's unwillingness to put an offensive line in front of him, really doomed what could have been a Hall of Fame career.

Your last graph is what was so important during my junior hockey days. We would have several of our scouts check out the higher-rated players, guys we'd be looking to take in the first five rounds or so and in meetings they'd debate the kid as a player but it was up to the guy from his area to weigh in on the kid off the ice: What his parents were like, what did his coaches and teammates say about him, did the kid have any off-ice or school issues, stuff like that. I would have scouts from NHL teams talk to me at games about players we had who were draft eligible wanting to know what the kid was like with me and the other staff and did they have any problems at school or with their billets.

This the Rams' reaction to the Patriots' first-round pick.

The weirdest thing about the Browns of the early 2000’s was their unwillingness to even draft a quarterback. They viewed that position as the final piece to the puzzle when it really was the starting point. Also because they were incompetent at drafting at any position. (You could’ve used a dog choosing draft picks based on eating food out of a bowl and drafted better. It’s hard to be that incompetent.)

That's awesome. Of course, you get a lot of rope when you've just won the SB. Now if they caught the NYG/NYJ/CLE braintrust saying the same thing........ oh there would be hell to pay.

Kelly was drafted by the Bills, who you are referring to was Corneilius Bennett who the Colts drafted but could not sign and was traded to the Bills
