Going to be there for work later this week. Any recs for dining and places to get a cold beer near the Marriott Conference Center? Or a short Uber away?

Stay away from Jim Swarthout, he's got mean dogs.

But Marvin and Velma Stanwyk will have you over.

    Sparked a memory.
When I covered UCLA football, my day didn't usually end until about 4 hours after the game -- gamer, sidebar (or two), notes, drive chart. I was usually exhausted and my routine often mimicked the old beer commercial: "I want the biggest steak you've got and a bottle of Lowenbrau."
After a UCLA game at BYU, the other writers had checked around and the most convenient dinner place was Sizzler. They told me to meet them there. I did. Unbelievable that I ended up with a Sizzler steak and NO BEER.
