    I am not going to speak for Rick Scott. ... But the way some of you are talking generally about those GOP Senators not voting for that bill is a bit simplistic. There are some of them who would tell you that they supported the bill, but they believed that fiscally we needed to make choices in order to be able to afford it. When they passed that $750 billion spending boondoggle the day before, they'd argue that the choice had been made for them.

    Which. ... along the lines of people being stupid. In an inflationary environment like the one we are dealing with right now, nothing is going to keep pouring fuel on the fire like deficit-spending, which has come with a central bank serving to monetize all of the debt we are running up and unleashing that inflation in the process. But they called a giant spending bill -- most of it blatant corruption and a big chunk of it a corporate welfare scheme -- "The Inflation Reduction Act."

    That kind of thing has become downright Orwellian, and to the extent that anyone actually believes that that bill is going to do the opposite of what it will do in reality because of an absurd name they put on it. ... yeah, people are very stupid.

    There was an earlier Senate vote on the bill and it pass something along the lines of 85-15 (IIRC). Nevertheless, even though there are budgetary considerations going forward, voting down the bill now was simply wrong to the vets. Whatever the financial quagmire, I'll say that the vets should not be paying the cost. What about repealing the tax bill with the marginalia and ZERO public hearing? Let's start there.

    Obviously a lot of these votes are "rigged" - almost aimed at using for election purposes - see I voted against it before I voted for it. Tuck in the Support our Police act in a bill legalizing abortion - SEE? The GOP hates cops!

    Yeah, it’s pretty easy for Scott - worth about $250 million if I remember correctly and government healthcare - to tell the people who protect his ability to be so well off that they’ll just have to suck it up.
