I read that the child had just lost a last remaining parent and this gay couple received custody and didn't want to further disrupt the child's life by switching schools. Possibly thinking a Christian school accepts all. That shows some thought went into the decision.

Post is reporting documents in search warrant (at least some, anyway) relate to nuclear weapons. Those are pretty close to the ultimate secrets as far as the US government is concerned.
