Heard new rule at Gannett to garner more hits is all stories will begin: "Kim Kardashian was not in (name of town today). In other local news..." Wondering if anyone has heard of any other such proposed edicts.

“Your Honor, we stipulate that our client, the Defendant did, in fact, beat the Gannett executive over the head multiple times with a stiff club. However, we offer the following mitigating evidence in our request to ask for the Court’s mercy.”

    “Everything is awesomeeee .”

“That’s all I need to see. Case dismissed. Defendant, you are free to go.”

The band is bad enough but the bopping flunkys at the foot of the stage have no shame

GateHouse thought their rep was so garbage, they kept Gannett as the name after the buyout. No cheesy music video needed.

For a news org that might still submit a FOIA or two, that uses the "public's right to know" and its role as a "public watchdog" to be so opaque with its own news really tells you a lot about a company. I've worked at papers that put local layoffs of a major local entity on A1. It's such a bad look.

When I worked at a GateHouse paper, our publisher buried in a column about the importance of print journalism that we didn’t have to report on our own layoffs because we were a private business. That excuse didn’t work for the local defense contractor when they shed a bunch of jobs, though.

"Horne explained that a large portion of executive compensation is tied to the company’s performance and that the company’s board of directors works with an outside consultant to set executive pay based on market data from comparable companies."

I haven't received a cost of living wage adjustment in the 10 years I have been with GateHouse/Gannett. I wish they would ask the outside consultant about that.

Compensation tied to the company’s performance … just think what Mike Lee would have gotten if the company actually performed well - $50 million? SMH
