There are some Dems - I think Begala is one - who said debt forgiveness was a campaign loser. Of course, he comes from a generation of Dems who feel that advocating for anything that doesn't have 70 percent support is a "risk" and will be used against them. I kind of feel bad for Dems so battered and gun shy they feel they can't support anything most Dems - hell, even most Dems - do support.

The vast vast majority of people who presented this kind of risk to national security would be dead by now. The national security apparatus is full of people whose entire job is to kill people to keep those secrets.

I feel bad for Dems who are made to feel like traitors if they don't walk in lockstep with the platform.

It's entirely rational to follow 95% of the party's goals while also having an issue with selective debt removal --- and worse, the forgiven debt being chosen beforehand as opposed to being unavoidable (such as medical bills).

It's really not well said. His favorite "Dem" is Tulsi Gabbard. With Dems like that who needs MAGA?

As far as can be told, student debt relief is a popular policy. Last poll showed one-third opposed, one-third saying Biden did just right, and one-third saying he didn't go far enough.
