My feeling is that she's done her dead solid best to remain above the fray, even when things were getting messy all around her.

The last time I was in London a few years ago, I started noticing all the things that would have to be changed once she died - money, stamps, all the bollards on the streets that have had her insignia on them for 60+ years and who knows what else. I've been too lazy to research how long the change over for things took when she became Queen.

Kind of where I am. I find it interesting as a news event (miss me with royal weddings, births and trivial gossip). But once she’s safely in the ground I’d rather see Scotland go independent and the Commonwealth countries declare they’re getting out of the dress-up business altogether.

BBC World News has been in special report mode for a couple of hours, at least, spinning their wheels quite well. As one commentator said reporting the family gathering, "That's really all you need to know."

70 years of queening --- and vacuuming --- is enough to wear anybody out.

Trump tweeted that he liked his Queens alive and with a penis.

I’d give anything for Reggie Jackson REAX sound for the early shows.

I think that's the main criticism against her too, though. The Royals have been happy to look the other way on a variety of matters, and to just keep milkin' the public teat, which supports them for... Reasons. Given the intense downgrade though from Lizzie to Charles, and the fact that his offspring with charm wants nothing to do with the throne (William has the personality of whole milk), makes me wonder if this is how that whole institution finally gets swept out the door in the U.K.
