She’s getting ratio’d worse than that CEO who posted a pic of himself crying after laying off 2 employees

On the positive side, her smoky Vegas lounge voice would complement Wright Thompson's voice if they ever narrate something together.

    "Voxsport" would be a good #30for30 ...

What if I told you Wright Thompson gargled with peanut butter, pop rocks, and bourbon before every one of his ESPN voice-overs ... next 30 for 30!

Not talking the voices who have been around forever but the distinctive voices.

Wright. Harry. Vin. Marv. Most. Doris. Etc etc.

“bourbon and guidance counselors, guidance counselors and bourbon…”

Having put in legally dubious workweeks (which we all have) seems to be a new sort of public virtue signalling.

I find it nothing to brag about. That kind of load has shattered plenty of relationships and families.

Well ... five and seven years after I attended elementary and middle schools, they got buried under a half-foot of volcanic ash. Does that mean I got old fast?

Yeah, this whole show is a sh_tshow. Either she's not smart enough to realize that being there is its own reward, or a generation younger than I cannot stop with the "Look at me!" crap. Either way, not good.

Some of us grow up at some point.

let your life speak for more than the fact you overexerted yourself for some company.

I think the point is that the guidance counselor may have had a point about her.

Worked with a great young reporter about 15 years ago. He was probably 23 or 24, covering a D-I beat. He always went above and beyond, probably worked 60-hour weeks. "It'll help me in the future," he said. Also picked up slack wherever he could on high schools or whatever else was needed.

Me and a colleague kindly told him he was an idiot. This business doesn't love you back.

Fortunately he's done well for himself and is still in the biz (but not sports). But I still think of the hours he wasted working for ungrateful editors who had no appreciation for his skill and extended effort.

And when it comes time for layoffs, the company isn't going to give a rat's ass about those 60-hour weeks or the holidays that you missed with your family. Your family will, however, remember those times you weren't there.

It wasn't for work reasons, but my mother-in-law was pretty much absent from our kids' lives for a decade when they were young. Now that they're teenagers, they don't really have a relationship with her and probably never will, because she, by her own choice, missed out on those formative years.
