Finally able to pick up my lageviro (Covid anti-viral) at the pharmacy around midnight, and also got some Tylenol AM/PM flu caplets. Got eight hours sleep, the most uninterrupted stretch since I first checked into Dante’s Infirmary. And no fever this morning, which is cause for rejoicing. Also I am no longer hearing Stanley Bros. gospel standards in my head the way I was when fever was staying in the 102-103 range.

If the first half of the NC State-VPI game didn't put you to sleep, then you did need some serious pharma.

Terrific news. Hope you were able to relax a little and listen to Pete Weber's call of last night's Preds win.

Checking in late here Dixie to wish you the best and remind you what all good Southern gentlemen know is the best elixir for your condition: Lem Motlow’s brown water from Lynchburg, Tennessee.

There’s been a photo floating around my Facebook feed for Grandpa’s homemade cough remedy, which consists of filling a Mason jar with broken peppermint candy, adding a spoonful of honey and the squeeze of a lemon or two, then pouring in Wild Turkey in the remaining space and sipping as needed once dissolved. I give myself until about midweek, and then I’m going to play pharmacist while substituting Old No. 7.

Glad you're on the mend. And that sounds good whether you're sick or not.

Anyway, would it have been too much for Walgreens, given that the appointment location was confused, to find a way to squeeze you in for the shots that day at that location? My Publix pharmacy is pretty good at adapting on the fly if the line ain't too long.

My genteel Southern mother gave us shots of Jack w/ honey and peppermint sticks when I was a young child!

Story my father still tells. I had terrible sore throats and earaches as a child, and the doctor suggested lemon, honey and Bourbon as a remedy (this was 1962, so insert Mad Men joke here).

Dad goes to the ABC store in Melbourne -- Florida controlled alcohol sales then -- and asks the guy behind the counter for a bottle of Bourbon. When the guy asks what brand, Dad says, "It doesn't matter, the cheapest one you've got. It's for my kid."
