Their Astros writer is...their Angels writer. To be fair, it was impossible to predict the team that won the pennant three times from 2017 through 2021 might win again in 2022.

Or their Houston numbers were shit, but you can’t NOT cover a WS team.

What are Adler's thoughts on pitchers pitching and pitchers hitting?

The NYT guild must have something in the contract about this?

I don't see how anyone could look at the most recent Gannett financial report and have confidence that all their papers are going to make it.

WaPo managing editor Steven Ginsberg allegedly is leaving to run the Athletic for NYT:

As at least one Twitter wag has noted, this is the first time the Athletic ever was successful at poaching anyone from WaPo after many, many attempts.

I get email blasts from NYT sports and the Athletic, and one today was from the NYT with a subject line "A New No. 1 in the N.F.L." and it was a link to The Athletic's latest power rankings. Maybe I've missed some others but that's the first email I've seen that mixes the two.

Tampa Bay Lightning have been pretty good recently. I wonder when they are going to hire a new Lightning writer.

It's the most wonderful time of the yeaaaaar (where I cancel my sub and use my wife's email address & credit card to get the $1/month deal--it was vice versa last year).

Got an email from the Athletic (I'm a subscriber) giving me free access for everything at the NYT for six months. Not bad. I was not a NYT subscriber.
