We can only hope those protestors fail to mark as badly as the U.S. backs failed to against the Dutch.

Might not be easy. I'd bet that these guys learned from the aftermath of 1/6. No phones, or only burners. Planning done in person, not over email. A tight group that keeps their mouths shut.

There's usually that one guy that screws up security though - makes a mistake or can't help but brag afterward.

If these people are locals, they have massively inconvenienced their neighbors. Since convenience is what most Americans think is freedom, they are liable to encounter informants where they used to find friends and acquaintances.

They have to be locals. If it was some grand scheme, I don't think they would have hit the middle of nowhere.
I also doubt they were smart enough to have secret meetings and burner phones.
Someone will brag about it at the local bar or Hardee's in a matter of days.

... or, most likely, at church.

Thing is, when you get the feds involved, forget about it.

We knew everything about the 9/11 hijackers that night, if not the next day. Having Moussaoui in custody certainly helped, as did every American giving every tip they could.

I don't know how many undercover agents North Carolina's investigative arm has, but the FBI dwarfs that times 1,000.

If they'd shot up one substation and no one could trace it, it'd be chalked up as a freak incident and we'd hear nothing more until the guys were hauled in. These cretins' mistake was turning it into a larger plot.

FBI will use some of that Homeland Security/NSA tech to figure out whose cell phone was near the substations at the time of the shootings. Unless the shooter(s) were smart enough to leave them at home.

I'm guessing they flunked the Mensa test.

Of course, they still haven’t caught the guy who put the pipe bombs out on Jan. 5 before the insurrection.
