The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in Little Rock is seeking a versatile sports designer to join our desk. Consideration will be given to applicants who can turn on a computer, operate a mouse, follow directions, write cohesive sentences and know the difference between a football and a tennis racket.

The primary responsibility is to design pages. We pride ourselves on having a versatile staff that works as a team where it is important to work together to make deadline each night.

This is not a hub. This is not designing 30 pages for six papers in one night, although there are some nights where changes will be required for other editions so good time management and multitasking are keen attributes.

The job requires night and weekend work. Working remotely is not an option at this time.

Little Rock is the capital city of Arkansas with a population of nearly 600,000 in the metro area. There are plenty of concerts and entertainment options inside the city, and various state parks and outdoor activities are within an hour’s drive. Many current and past staff members enjoy the city's River Market area just a few blocks away from the newspaper office to appease their social tastes.

Applicants should submit a resume, cover letter and design samples to Assistant Sports Editor Frankie Frisco at ffrisco@adgnewsroom.com. References will be required upon request.

The idea of there being a sports page designer position in 2022 is wild.

We have an opening for one. Crappy pay, but a four-day work week, and depending on what insurance you choose, medical is free. Woohoo.

There's a reason why this job keeps opening up, and it's not because alumni are moving on to the Daily Planet and making their pages sing.

    Beware.

TGO157, newspapers still exist, and we have evolved digitally to produce an interactive edition subscribers get on the iPad we give them.

I'm too close to retiring to go anywhere (other than near the N.C. or Tennessee mountains). Won't even work past March 31 if they take my four-day work week away.
