ChatGPT isn't AI. It's Machine Learning.

It's studying the context of words, processing through an ML algorithm, and stitching other words in that it believes fit the context. It's really, really good at it.

AI would imply that it has original thoughts. It does not. It's just really good at inferring and filling in the blanks.

I asked ChatGPT to write me a speech for political office that emphasizes intelligence and experience. The results:

So the other day I asked my colleague (he's a pretty big scholarly presence in that field) about that. Per him, AI is an umbrella term comprising both machine learning and deep learning. And therefore, per him, ChatGPT is AI.
