I think weaponizing the word "woke" is the same rhetorical jiu-jitsu move the right used to make "politically correct" a pejorative.

As mentioned above, 'woke' has been used for decades by folks below 14th Street and above 110th to note anyone who understood the rigging of the entire system against them.

Someone awake - and therefore alert to reality.

As with “politically correct,” “woke” is just code for “not being an asshole.”

 

The joke is on whites for their cultural misappropriation of "woke."
