Thank you all for the kind sentiments and shared wisdom. In times like this you have to maintain a brave facade for your closest loved ones, cant crack bc that will make their ordeal all the worse. And so having the opportunity and outlet to admit your darkest fears in a forum like this is invaluable.

Im an idiot and an asshole and this place allows me to be at full sail — and get all the feedback and smack downs that come with it.

But beyond sharing our opinions, this forum shares reality, nuance, empathy, compassion.

In closing, San Dimas High School football rules!

You beat it once. You'll beat it twice.

We can do this and, at the same time, love you back to health.

Sending good thoughts, @CD Boogie. Please keep up hope you'll get another good outcome.

Talking is important. You are right that we don't know the full extent of what others are dealing with. You may provide a nudge for someone to pay more attention to their health.

I don't know you personally, CD, but I enjoy reading your posts. I don't know what it's like to be in your shoes, but I'm sending you the best vibes possible to go out and win this thing. Kick some ass.

Keep pounding. I’m pretty sure I’ve outed myself here a million times (and most don’t care), but that’s the real value of this place: You can be honest and real thanks to the anonymity.

CDB -- I had no idea you went to San Dimas. My cousin and a former co-worker went there. My cousin was a fairly well-known heavy metal DJ at KNAC.

    LOL, I didn’t. It’s a quote from Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure.

Well, I did not think I'd be one to belly laugh at a cancer thread but each day is an opportunity for self-discovery.

@CD Boogie , the next time I drive to see my parents and pass by the Holy Land cross, my Connecticut heathen prayers are going up for you.

@ChrisLong , KNAC was the true holy land for rock and metal back in the day. DJ Wall, Tawn Mastry...damn. As an East Coast guy, we would occasionally get tapes of the broadcasts and marvel at the enlightenment while we remained mired in the land of GHLASSIC ROGH.

One of their DJs was Long Paul. Guess what has real name is.
"Long Paul hangin' out with you" was his catch phrase.

    Goddamn I love this place.

He had influenced and had a front-row seat for a significant part of our cultural history. That's amazing.
