George Romney was a prominent supporter of civil rights. Economically, he hewed to country-club Republicanism in the Rockefeller mode. His wife, Mitt's mom, Lenore, was a proponent of abortion rights (and got ass-kicked as a Senate candidate in 1970 by full fledged liberal Democrat Phil Hart).

 

And Ford got to replace Douglas. Carter got zero vacancies on the SCOTUS.

 

In those days local markets had talk shows, like Joe Pyne in Los Angeles
Detroit’s was Lou Gordon, who worked for Channel 50 and whose show was syndicated nationwide on Kaiser Broadcasting stations
Romney’s presidential campaign basically ended in 1968 when he told Gordon he had been “brainwashed” on Vietnam by military advisers when he traveled there in the mid 60s
As it turned out, Romney was right but his political career never recovered

 

Of course today if a prospective GOP candidate flew overseas to inspect the situation at a military conflict under a Dem administration that candidate would scream we should immediately surrender to the enemy, who is a "terrific guy," and the Dem president should immediately be impeached, indicted, criminally tried and executed.

And he'd say, "they tried to brainwash me but it didn't work because I have the cleanest brain anybody has ever seen. Very clean. Incredibly clean."

I believe I said “pushing us toward.” Pretty sure “pushing us toward” is not the same as actually being a totalitarian regime. I’m pretty sure restricting who can vote, attempting to invalidate elections, banning books and ideas, passing laws restricting individual freedom for select groups, blatant lying and a pile of other evidence makes my characterization valid.

Just because we’re heading toward fascism and not communism like Russia doesn’t invalidate calling Republicans for what they’re doing.

I don’t get why Dominion is considering this. Discovery was devastating for Fox. Only way I’d consider this is if Fox had to mandate before every prime-time show that there was no election fraud in 2020 and that all programs after 7pm are entertainment, not news, shows.

 

Fuck settling. Put the hammer to their skull.
