He's not just serious, he's right. Len Dawson was the fifth pick of the 1957 draft, chosen just ahead of one Jim Brown. In five NFL seasons with the Steelers and Browns, he started two games and threw all of 45 passes, before he went to the AFL Dallas Texans in 1962. The Texans became the Kansas City Chiefs, and Dawson became Super Bowl IV MVP and a Hall of Famer.

 

Before the '70s, the Steelers really could fuck up a one-car parade. At least they let Dawson play, though not much. He started one game and attempted only 17 passes in three seasons with Pittsburgh. They had Johnny Unitas, too, but never even gave him a real shot in preseason before cutting him.

 

My error, I thought he was saying Dawson was a placeholder QB like Dilfer, not that he was a former high draft pick/washout. Sorry to everyone.
