Climate Change? Nahhh ...

My two big experiences with insurance companies (and hopefully my last).

1. My wife was in an accident with an uninsured driver that was 100% the other person's fault. They turned in front of her on a straight stretch of highway. Within a week, State Farm had us a check. I never thought much more about it. The bad part was coming up on a year, State Farm started calling asking if we wanted to sue for pain and suffering. "What pain and suffering? EMS put a Band-Aid on her knee, and she refereed a college basketball game a few hours later. We're good." "You mean you don't want to seek a settlement?" "No. We aren't suing some shithead just to get money. There was no pain and suffering. The car was paid for, and nobody was hurt. Stop calling me."

2. A couple of years ago, my wife broke a front tooth that required a crown. Because of whatever, it was required she wear braces for a few months to get her teeth in proper position to fix. The insurance company wouldn't pay for the braces, saying it was unnecessary and cosmetic. Our dentist filed paperwork saying it was necessary. His partner looked, filed paperwork saying it was necessary. The insurance companies consulting dentist filed paperwork saying it was necessary. Some dickhead with a business degree sitting in a cubicle figured he knows better and denied the claim. We had to pay $5k out of pocket.
