OK, so I can speak to this with authority (at least from the perspective of 30+ years ago).
The military I served in was inclusive. Diversity, in terms of mission statement, was not on the table.
The worst thing anyone could ever be labeled by their shipmates was "an individual."
In boot camp, when we got into trouble, we had to do the Triangle of Stupidity. We'd form a triangle with our forefingers and thumbs, get into a triceps pushup position, go halfway down, and balance our dog tags on end in the triangle. Our company commander would scream, "What are the three points of the triangle?" Then 88 guys would recite in unison, "Lack of motivation. Individuality. Stupidity."
When it comes to diversity, the opening of Full Metal Jacket hits home. The military is inclusive, but the point is to break down diversity. You're all the same.
I've been to sea with guys who I've put my life in their hands, and they've put theirs in mine. In port, we wouldn't even give each other a head nod passing on a sidewalk. Once we hit blue water again, it's back to a cohesive unit.
I totally know it's probably impossible to grasp unless you've been there. But it's true.

In Happy Valley we can overlook serial buggery but don't even think about playing basketball outside!

These are not verbal slip-ups; they are trial balloons with their klan. When the day comes and goes and nobody raises a fuss, they go back to their despicable districts and yuck it up with their constituents. And over a Jim Beam or six, they think of the next nifty phrase they can use without scorn.

I'd sure as hell rather have their finger on the button than yours, you sanctimonious, pompous, ignorant fuckwad.

Has anybody fact checked the “drag shows on the air base” claim?

I need more convincing - plead guilty and do some time, then I'll start to come around...

    It's actually a positive story.

Inflation is higher because the population is exploding. More people, more demand for goods, for housing. Fastest growing state in the nation.

Is it somehow better to have a mass exodus from your state?

Very positive story, because nothing makes people happier than paying more for food, consumer goods, housing and health care. Except not being able to get insurance, and having the place where you live get more and more and more crowded.
