I think the EXPOTUS could specifically refuse the Secret Service protection if they so chose. Strangely enough none have ever done so.

Probably too soon to Lock Him Up. The judge will have to impose an official gag order first, which she has not done so yet to my knowledge.

After that, he can campaign for Iowa and New Hampshire from a jail cell in the District for all I care. Let's see his interest in delay delay delay once he's held pre-trial.

Wasn’t he the one mocking Biden for campaigning from his basement? No crowds at rallies from jail.

Is being Carter’s Secret Service agent post-presidency the equivalent to getting to be the NFL back-up quarterback who makes $12 million a year and never has to take a snap?

    What a drama-free experience.

In one of Elmore Leonard's novels, I forget which one, the protagonist is an ex-Secret Service agent who resigned after one year of being assigned to Bess Truman's protection detail.
