Michael Franti and Spearhead (tonight) and the Australian Pink Floyd Experience (Sunday night), Chateau Ste. Michelle winery/outdoor concert venue, Woodinville, Wash.

We brought the intense sun and heat with us from Central Washington. But when Franti takes the stage the sun will be going down and it should be a nice venue for the show.

    It’s a beauty.

As great as he was on TV, I could listen to him talk music all day

Getting ready for part two of the concert weekend, the Australian Pink Floyd Experience at Chateau Ste. Michelle winery and concert venue.

The Michael Franti show was fun on Friday night. More my wife’s style of music, but Franti always works hard to get out into the crowd and connect with fans. He’s got a new lead guitarist in Spearhead who really could cook when given a chance.

Was a much older crowd for Franti than I expected … lots of people our age (early 50s) or older. We were probably around the average age-wise. I think tonight’s crowd will skew even older but we’ll see.

I saw Brit Floyd last year, really cool especially for someone who never saw the real thing. Terrific musicianship and presentation

I would say the same thing about the Australian Pink Floyd Experience. I never saw the only Pink Floyd tours I would have been old enough to attend (the two post-Waters mega tours), but these guys played a wider range of Floyd tunes from every phase of their career, including a couple pre-“Dark Side” songs, than the original band ever did. Very well done and with some funny and updated twists on the visuals and stage show.

I’ll post the entire set list on the Pink Floyd thread but the bottom line: see the Aussie Floyd if you’re a fan of the band. Had a great time.

I even got a couple songs from The Final Cut which gets a ton of shit among Floyd flans but is an album I have always liked.

I caught the "Wish You Were Here" and "Animals" tours at Atlanta Stadium. Fabulous shows, great musicianship, plus crashing airplanes and giant balloon animals. Saw them on the "Division Bell" tour as well, which was still quite good, probably better as a multimedia show, but it was lesser Floyd nonetheless.

I wish the hell I had been old enough when they came through on the "Meddle" tour, but that was before I'd even heard of them.

The Aussie Pink Floyd group brought out a giant inflatable kangaroo instead of a pig during “Pigs: Three Different Ones.” I was hoping they would show Trump in their video images during the song, but I know there were some MAGA people in the crowd (saw a few “Let’s Go Brandon” shirts). They did put a bunch of pictures of Putin up there, though.

Speaking of “Meddle,” the band did an awesome version of “One of These Days (I’m Going to Cut You Into Little Pieces).” Probably been a few years since the original Pink Floyd has played that one!

"Echoes" and "One of These Days" through a Quadraphonic PA must have been freaking amazing.

Isbell and the 400 Unit at Brown's Island in RVA last night was absolutely incredible. Best set I've seen from them in a long time, and that was my seventh time seeing them. Very heavy on Weathervanes and Southeastern for the 10th anniversary of the album. Really hoping the time off his helping Jimbo Hart, because he's missed, but Anna Butterss was more than up to the task filling in for him on bass. To be able to hear all of the new stuff along with getting Stockholm, Flying Over Water, Super 8 was a treat. Closed the main set with Cover Me Up, which I think he is contractually obligated to play in Richmond. Big coal train rolled over the triple crossing right next to the stage as they were playing, just a chef's kiss to an amazing evening. I tend to forget how talented both Jason and Sadler Vaden are on guitar, and they were on top of their game last night.

Still buzzing this morning. I needed that.

"One of These Days" is among their most-played songs. Floyd played it on their tours in the 80s and 90s, Gilmour has played it at almost all his shows (he loves playing the lap steel part), Waters plays it and Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets has played it on both tours. In the case of all of those other than Waters, the bass line is handled by Guy Pratt, who is by light years a better player than Waters, so OOTD is outstanding at those shows.
