    As a special counsel, Weiss can prosecute anywhere, whereas as part of the Delaware US Attorney's office, he'd have to farm out a case if H. Biden was accused of a crime taking place in like California. Also, special counsels get to write reports (remember Ken Starr), allowing Weiss to defend his actions both in cases he brings and those he doesn't. Apparently, this all stems from how the original plea deal fell apart, which remains murky, at least to me.

    Pretty much walls off any claims of DOJ or WH interference. It's the same investigation, just with no oversight from the DOJ.

    It cuts off Comer's investigation. And anything else about Hunter Biden they want to probe. Weiss hasn't found anything related to Joe yet. Let him spend a few million to continue finding nothing.
