“Content” can be whatever garbage is put out there. Stories written by journalists are not “content.”

Given that the business is supposed to have wordsmiths, that some lazy bums are allowed to throw a generic catchall such as “content” is even more puzzling - and maddening.

 

That ship left the dock a long time ago. If we’re going to survive getting paid for this for as long as possible, thinking of ourselves as content creators is a good idea. And plenty of good journalism can be done in that lens. People do explainers on TikTok all the time.

 

But ... it's a new and exciting time in journalism ...
