Carolina didn't send any out of town media during its trip to LA and Anaheim. Only one was Bally Sports TV.

    Franchises don’t send media.

So The Athletic has a dedicated Miami Hurricanes beat writer. Miami played at home on Saturday. The beat writer was in Jacksonville as the third or fourth wheel on Fla-Ga.

Miami played Virginia. The No. 3 story off the Cocktail Party will dwarf the traffic from that Miami-UVA game. And given how The Athletic is staffing things, it's a numbers business.

My subscription for $1 per month for two years is expiring and my price is jumping to $7.99/month. Given that I read maybe one article per month, I went to cancel and was offered $9.99 for 1 year.
I would have stayed for the same deal I was on, or up to $3/month, so I jumped at the offer.
At least they will take all $9.99 at once instead of taking $1 out of my PayPal each month.

Thanks for the reminder! My deal expires this month. No chance I'm paying $7.99 a month. I imagine they'll do a Black Friday deal again and then I'll just cancel and sign up again under another email address, like I did the last two years.

Back in the print subscription days, the word for that cancellation/re-subscribe merry go round was “churn.”

About to do the same with the WaPo. I read several stories a day, but my renewal is supposed to be $130 or something, which is a wee bit too much.

I canceled with them before for that same reason. Took about 4-6 weeks to get an offer at my price point.

The Times, without prompting, added Games to my subscription today even though they aren’t charging me a dime for it.

Update. Canceled, and they immediately offered me a one-year rate of $50 to retain. I took it.
