The original movie was stupid. Cuban troops overrun the United States, including some heartland podunk? Please. The only positive to that POS was casting Bill Smith as the Russian advisor because he was fluent in Russian.

 

John Milius is a nutjob. But he knows how to make a spectacle. And Red Dawn is entertaining schlock.

 

You’ve got to suspend disbelief. It’s an enjoyable movie for me. Seen it several times. Definitely agree about Bill Smith. Played his role well.

 

Soviet, Warsaw Pact and Central American troops were also involved, not just Cubans.
