The Seattle Times, a family-owned news organization and one of the nation’s premier regional news sources, is seeking a Sports Reporter. This person will cover University of Washington football and other topics as needed in one of the nation’s most competitive sports markets, and as the Huskies transition to the Big Ten Conference. This reporter will be a proven digital and print journalist who is a self-starter and equally adept at breaking news, analysis, storytelling and enterprise while building reader loyalty through thorough reporting and lively, authoritative writing.

Hmmm … makes me wonder if Mike Vorel, their very solid UW beat writer, is moving on to better things. If so, good for him.

And as we used to say, release the hounds (or Huskies in this case). This is a great time to cover this beat.

Vorel announced on Twitter he is replacing Stone as the columnist.

She seems to have landed on her feet well in San Francisco.

Required: a love of visits to State College, East Brunswick and Iowa City.

Piscataway, not East Brunswick. And you’d probably stay in New Brunswick, which isn’t bad at all.

The five-hour flight will be bad.

The flight and time change will suck. But it might actually be easier to get to than other Big Ten schools.
