College football bowl thread: Days of Signs and Roses

I was expecting the NYT or WP to come out with a big piece on the troubles of college football - commissioners have been lobbying Congress on the down low for NIL legislation to protect schools from themselves. But the problems run a lot deeper than NIL and/or opt outs. The Jimbo Fisher buyout coming the same week as Arizona was shown to have serious financial probles might be exhibit A. The NCAA kind of having some authority, but not really - is another. I don't doubt that everyone is counting on the 12-team playoff to solve everything - My bet would be that it won't....

 

Works great for quarter schools, you can enroll in March. Not so great for semester schools, you show up in late January or mid-February and you've already missed three or four weeks of the classes you are allegedly taking.

Basically, ESPN (using their henchmen on the playoff pickin’ panel) made a business decision to go with one-loss Alabama in the CFP.

So their commentators shouldn’t be shocked that any Florida State players with pro aspirations or transfer plans also made business decisions to skip the Orange Bowl.

How far will the Seminoles drop in the polls?
My guess is not far because everyone knew it was a very undermanned team going in.

 

I’d put them at 6 — none of the 2-loss teams deserve to jump them.
