The Fabelmans. Very disappointing. Seemed like a generic director (and not Spielberg) made a movie about Spielberg's life. And David Lynch seemed more like Richard Ben Cramer than John Ford.

Went and saw Mulholland Drive at my local rep. Hadn’t seen it since it came out.

Sublime, I had a much better handle on it this time. I could watch that movie again and again.

    Iron Fist tonight.

Watched "Bank of Dave" last night on Netflix. Highly recommended. The PM from "The Diplomat" plays Dave from Burnley.

Confess, Fletch was a fun watch. Well cast and I have liked all I've seen of director Greg Mottola's movies.

Sideways is one of those movies I still guiltily like and will watch again. Funny and subtle and a lot of women hate it for good reasons. Both of the lead male characters get away with a lot, to put it mildly.

If you liked The Holdovers, watch The Paperchase - the 70s era movie about the first year at Harvard Law School. Way different story, much of the same vibe.

John Housman is freaking outstanding in that movie.

    1) Houseman was great in The Paper Chase movie and TV show — you come in here with a skull full of mush, leave thinking like a lawyer. The same author wrote an excellent book about being a junior associate in a big law firm called The Associates (which had a brief TV series starring Martin Short).

    2) Confess, Fletch was really fun and Hamm has had zero luck as a movie lead. That should have been a hit and lead to 5 more movies, but it just disappeared.

'1L' by Scott Turow is a good read about his first year at Harvard Law. I could see why people wouldn't give a shit about some guy's time at Harvard, but I liked it. 'Brush with the Law" is another interesting book about law school, but, again, I can understand people won't want to read about two guys at prestigious law schools doing crack and gambling heavily.

I liked 1L but it was pretty dry at times. If I remember, he had the contract to write the book before he started.
