Anyone else find it interesting that Russell Wilson and Fields will now be on the same team? If my memory is correct, the Bears wanted Wilson as their QB just before they drafted Justin Fields.

 

The Bears were one of the teams on his list. Not sure how much mutual interest there was.

 

I recall Ryan Pace offering draft picks to Seattle to acquire Wilson, and the Seahawks turning it down. I guess they got a better deal from Denver a year later.

 

Maybe. I think my brain is protecting me by making Pace-era memories a bit fuzzy.

Pittsburgh is paying less in salary for Wilson and Fields than they did for Pickett and Trubisky.

 

The offensive line is not fine. Dan Moore is a strong run blocker, but in pass protection, he often resembles a turnstile. They also have no center. They sat on their hands and let just about every decent free agent go elsewhere, some of them for very cheap deals. They also opened up a huge hole at receiver. Maybe they can fix this with other free agent signings and the draft, but the offense has some serious problems.

 

Wilson has his eleventy bazillion in guaranteed money from the Broncos. He didn't need more - and I doubt any team would have given him more - than league minimum.

 

Wilson is making his Broncos salary for 2024. The amount from any other team is an offset on how much the Broncos owe him, not extra.

 

Prediction: Justin Fields will be Pittsburgh's starting QB by midseason.
