Can you buy booze in Alabama on Sunday now? We went down more than 30 years ago and that’s all the locals talked about.

Depends on the city/county, but most populated places have it now.

Yeah, other than in a couple of dry counties. The state run Alcohol Beverage Control stores (basically the liquor stores) are not open on Sunday, but bars and restaurants which serve are. There are bottle shops, that is, non-state owned liquor stores, which are open. They buy whole sale from the ABC stores and retail at a markup, making out by being open Sundays and evening hours when the state store is closed.

The lottery is a regressive tax on steroids. Primarily takes money from people who don't have much.

“If you pass through on a Sunday
Better make a stop at Wayne’s
It’s the only open liquor store north
And I can’t stand the pain
    Of being by myself
    Without a little help
    On a Sunday afternoon … ”

Part of my job is being in the marijuana space and I told my boss a couple of weeks ago that maybe they'll announce it then, though it was a Saturday this year.

Yes. A legalization of recreational would have been the big victory. Of course, more and more states have gone that route.

It's like they're dipping their toe in the water instead of going all in, which they should at this point with as many states that have legal recreational marijuana.
