Every judge I ever heard of in the history of the world, or certainly the United States, enforced contempt of court charges on the basis that a defendant (or any participant in a court proceeding) must respect the institution of the court itself rather than the judge personally, and any affront, even if seemingly trivial, against the judge, represents an attack against the legitimacy and authority of the court.

 

Take it up with the judge, Star. I just reported what he did when he issued the gag order.
