Why? You didn't express racism. Narrow minded provincialism, perhaps, but not racism.

If 37 percent knew about it, and 12 percent of the country is Black, I submit that is not an insignificant number of people.

Let me try to defuse and clarify this one more time. Over the last sixty years I have lived in Fulton County, Ga., Harris County, Texas, and Jefferson County, Alabama. All of these places have high populations of Black people. Juneteenth celebrations have been commonplace where I live for a minimum of forty to forty-five years. For me, it is accepted and commonplace. I'll even stipulate that the earliest of those 45 years were in Houston, which is close to Galveston, where the holiday originated, which may skew things.

    Your lived experience obviously differs.

It's not about ME. It's about how well known it was to the vast majority of the country.

It's been a state holiday in Texas since 1979. I wasn't saying that it was made up out of whole cloth in 2021. There have been regional celebrations on June 19th for 150+ years. But MOST PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY would have had no clue what Juneteenth was or what it signified prior to the recent movement that elevated it to commemorating the end of slavery.

I want to like that post, but I'd also like him to get down off his cross.

So will it be Friday so they can be through by the weekend, or will it drag into next week?

    Who knows?
