Several elected GOP members are bleating about how now we're a Banana Republic.
Now we're a Banana Republic? Now?
I want to scream (as I am bashing them in the mouth): "That's because you are backing a coup-plotting felon to lead the country!"

Trump’s self-defense mechanism is that every DA is corrupt, every judge is corrupt, every jurisdiction where he has been charged with a crime is a Democrat hellhole and every prosecutor is corrupt. That isn’t a shock — he always refuses to accept any process. The crazy part is that the entirely of the GOP falls in lockstep behind him.

Can you imagine being one of the Central Park 5 waking up this morning? I hope someone got their reaction. It's gotta be a good day.

    Seriously.

My first thought was about Hilary Clinton and. ... "Lock her up!" I can't stand her and think she is a morally bankrupt person. But if anyone had the right to some schadenfreude yesterday, it was her. I wouldn't have begrudged her if she had posted a 10 minute video of herself on tiktok belly laughing.

In fairness. ... the judge is "highly conflicted" and this whole thing was a DISGRACE.

Seriously, I don't know the courts in NYC except for some jury duty, and I wasn't sitting in that courtroom throughout this whole thing.

But as someone (like all of us) who has seen some high profile trials where the judge didn't seem in control. ... I was thinking yesterday about what a good job this judge seemed to have done. He bent over backward to be fair, while somehow not letting Trump's bullshit derail the process. He showed a bit of firmness, but gave a ton of lattitude, for example when Robert Costello showed no respect for the judicial system when he tesitified. And he managed what seemed like a very orderly process without him as the judge becoming the focus. This guy should be congratulated if it is the way it appeared.

Just my perspective, nothing to do with the trial itself: I still think this was a bullshit prosecution. He didn't do anything that should be criminalized. . ... paying a porn star hush money, using your own money (it's his business, he should be able to "falsify" whatever he wants and it should be no one else's business in a free society) ...

That said, unlike the civil trial we were arguing about, which I thought was a real abuse of the justice system (we don't need to relitigate it, though). ... the process itself here was very fair. They charged him, he got due process and a fair trial and he had every chance possible to defend himself. An impartial jury found him guilty.

That's the way our system of justice works.

That said, he's unlucky that I wasn't sitting on that jury. ... I would have been sitting there during deliberations arguing, "Yeah, he's guilty of whatever they are arguing, but it's nonsensical that they are turning this into something criminal. Do you guys know what jury nullification is?" :)

Also, when I said that it should be no one else's business. ... that isn't what the douchebag argued. I think he is finally killing himself with the constant bullshit and lies. I mean, if he had said, "Yeah, I banged her, and who wouldn't have tried to shut her up with some cash in the middle of the elecion? I'm Donald Trump, you know I bang porn stars and hookers, it's really the only thing I am actually interested in, what did you expect? Of course I did." . ... there is at least a small chance he wouldn't be a convicted felon today. People elected him after that Access Hollywood tape, after the Stormy Daniels story broke, and a million other shitty things people knew about him. A lot of people actually don't care.

But his ego wouldn't allow him to do anything except lie and double down on lying. It's laughable when he still denies even banging her. He's where he is as a result of it.

The Stormy Daniels story didn’t come out until 2018. It would’ve been right on top of the Access Hollywood tape. Which is what led to him to illegally concealing the payoff.

    1. When Donald Trump was "using his own money," why did he have his upper middle class lawyer mortgage his own house to front the money?

    2. When Donald Trump paid the loan back, why did they bump up the repayment to cover Michael Cohen's taxes? That wouldn't have been taxable income for Michael Cohen ...

    3. How come Michael Cohen had to plead guilty to campaign finance violations related to this affair?
