This nearly took an extremely dark turn for those who remember Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.

    Damn?

That's a different R. Simmons who enjoyed his heyday in a bygone era. And I'm not talking about Russell.

She showed up on my TV in the wee hours back when local TV broadcasting 24/7 was new and I just assumed she was another one of those knockoff Bible thumpers because of her name.

Man, I don't know how many of those Guthy-Renker infomercials I'd watch, wanting to know what the "hook" was. They were never video cassettes - always a "system."

This unlocked a memory more than three decades old. My freshman English teacher spent several days of class having us watch the “Where There’s a Will, There’s an A” videos that John Ritter was forever hawking on late night TV. It made no lasting impression on me, but I think it boiled down to “Take lots of notes and have a system for keeping schoolwork organized.”
