    From Jayson Stark:

Congratulations to the 3 nominees for the BBWAA Career Excellence Award:

    Tom Boswell
    Paul Hoynes
    Bruce Jenkins

The winner will be announced in December and will be honored next July in Cooperstown at Induction Weekend

Jenkins is the holdover from last year

This is the last Hall of Fame vote I have and I hate doing it. Choosing among colleagues I knew and liked is awful. That said, I'm pretty sure Bos is gonna win.

that’s probably a very safe bet. And no offense to recent inductees but I would have assume he would already have gotten in

Surprised he's not in already. But I always worry West Coast writers and broadcasters like Jenkins and Kruk and Kuip get lost in the shuffle on these awards.

Man, the ballot that had Lowe, Jenkins and Fraley, I almost threw it away because I couldn't decide. All worthy, all friends.

I'm glad to know other voters feel the way I do.

Apologies for working @Della9250 corners, but here's the Frick list.

    As always: Krukow. Kuiper.

Every year my brother sends me the same e-mail as to why Dick Allen should be in the Hall of Fame. I agree. I voted for him. But I don't have a vote anymore and don't even know how the Classic Era process works except that I'm sure it's screwed up as all Hall processes are. But he'll be sending me this message by close of business tomorrow.
Seriously, he, Parker and Tiant should all get in.

I was warming to Tommy John in my head (I don't have a vote), but then he said he thinks his political leanings have kept him out, which makes no sense and does him no favors.

Off that list, I'd go with Parker.

Off that list, I'd also go with this Vic Harris!

    And this John Donaldson ...

Allen missed by a vote the last two times he's been nominated. It'd be nice if they finally sent him through. I'd have no problem with anyone else on the ballot but Garvey. But the two Negro Leagues guys are the only ones with any previous traction besides Allen. Of course knowing how it goes they'll put in Tiant since he just died.
