Suggestion: Watch the Opening Ceremony and put John Williams "Olympic Fanfare" on loop in your audio system.

No more of Tirico's crap. Problem solved.

    You're welcome.

Wynonna would have to do the voice-overs. But only if it’s a big brown beaver.

This happened a while ago, but "Imagine" is a first-ballot member of the This Song Doesn't Mean What You Think It Means Hall of Fame.

Though I think it was a nice touch to include Rafa, this little interlude is why it helps to have your ceremony and your cauldron in the same place.

Let's go with "Gimme Some Truth" and "Power To The People."

So who here has actually been to/covered an Olympiad?

    I attended Montreal in 1976.

L.A. '84. A sad/stupid tale for me. A boring tale for all others.

Tirico is a very good host but an exercise in banality when it comes to something like this that requires being conversant in something other than sports. Kelly Clarkson hosts a successful talk show and though she wasn't super original or well-managed, she speaks to the key demographic that is watching right now. As for Peyton, I am reminded that in 1992, CBS tried very hard to make Tim McCarver a studio host. It didn't work and neither did this.

In other news, a scene reminiscent of the Last Supper depicted by drag queens is apparently going to be the right-wing screech machine's motif for the next week or so. Harrison Butker has already weighed in.
