President Biden: The NEW one and only politics thread

The toniest suburb here is Mountain Brook, which often shows up on lists of Top 100 wealthiest towns in America. The Donald Trump of the 80s, 90s and 2000s would have been politely tolerated as an amusing novelty, but never would have been fully accepted into Mountain Brook society.

Back when it was uniformly conservative, political yard signs would have been regarded as tacky there. But after 2016 more and more people there started putting up Resistance-type signs and campaigning for (gasp!) Democrats in legislative races. I doubt the Vote Blue faction even makes up half the town, but compared to the rest of white Alabama it is a shocking change.

And thus, the remaining Republican faithful of Mountain Brook are much more likely to sport Trump signs now, probably in greater density than some nearby middle class suburbs. I think they got startled and are trying to pee on their trees to ward off the other side.

1) Harris is so much smarter than SPC that it's not even a fair fight.
2) No, if it doesn't involve him, he's not concerned. At all.
3) A former San Francisco prosecutor that had to endure in the same city as Dirty Harry for umpteen number of years can handle Clint Eastwood.

 

I'm old enough to remember when the NY Times and WaPo were pretty much considered the gold standard of journalism.
