    I blame one-column headlines.

And guys who say "the wife."

"Wanted to go drinking with my buddies last night, but the wife wouldn't let me."

Yeah, and maybe it's because you like to refer to her as an object, ya think?

No. Parallel construction is required for consistency if you're using verbs for "victory" and "defeat."

So: If you use the verb "win" as a noun, then the verb "lose" is the required parallel noun.

And a one-column hed fits "lose" in the same space as "loss," so that's irrelevant on my point.

And, finally, I stopped giving a shit about this blatant inconsistency years ago, but I'll probably keep changing "impact/impacted/impacting" to a real verb until I die. ... And if, for no other reason, to fuck with the arrogant turds who think they can write better than I can edit.

"Heh heh heh. ... Pull up a chair, kid, and watch everything that happens next ... "

You must have a teenager or are teenager adjacent.

I’ve leaned into it. Be as annoying about it as possible. It became fun.

Yeah, she’s going into 6th grade. I try to use it back at her . “You totally ate that performance.” “That Chappell Roan song is a bop.”

The legal phrase "any and all." Any and all who use that should be disbarred posthaste.

Just freakin' say (or write) "all."

The one time I ever had a desire to make a TikTok was when I convinced my daughter to quiz me on definitions for current slang. If you’ve never played that game with your kid, it is hilarious.

I can't figure out old legal documents say from the early 1700s. Every person referenced, every event, every place is qualified by "the said" as in "the said Smith did in fact steal the said horse on the said blah blah."
    Holy cow.
