There was not much to recommend living in Dothan, but being close enough to the coast to enjoy shrimp and (cheese) grits regularly was certainly a plus.

 

When this native CA went to Ala for the first time and got grits at breakfast I thought it was cream of wheat and the thought of salt and butter on them was ….not appealing.

I now do some international travel for my newish post-sportswriting job (4 years already!), including a couple of trips to Japan. Japanese Kit-Kats are amazing. Try the matcha ones!!! There are also strawberry, melon, Tokyo banana (pretty good), orange-chocolate ... the list goes on. There's a decent soy powder-based one with white chocolate that's surprisingly good.

 

Japanese Kit Kats are one of my favorite things in the world.

 

A coworker brought Japanese Kit Kats to the office after a trip several months ago. The orange-chocolate ones are next-level great.

 

I have learned something new today. Kit Kat drinks. Hmm.
