    1) Genesis in London.

I saw them in Denver and in Raleigh. Both were great shows, but I have a suspicion that they're just ... different ... in London. At home. In front of an especially raucous crowd.

    2) Rush at Red Rocks.

Saw them in Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Red Rocks. Want to repeat Red Rocks ... if I don't have to tolerate the overwhelming plume of smoke again. (Fine if others want to fire up, but that was a little much).

Honorable mention: James Taylor in Raleigh or Charlotte (don't even try to tell me "Carolina In My Mind" doesn't mean a little more in those places), Earth, Wind & Fire just about anywhere as long as Maurice White is part of the lineup, or Pink Floyd (though I don't have Chef's or Junkie's knowledge of their catalog ... bonus points if Gilmour and Waters don't actually kill each other on stage).

Great thread idea. I’ll have to think on it a bit more, but I’ll start with this:

1.) Muddy Waters at some juke joint in the Delta

2.) Haggard in a smoky bar room somewhere out west

Wait. Do they have to still be alive? I think I’ve covered those experiences

1.) Robert Earl Keen at the Ryman fits that bill ✅

2.) BB King at a small theater on campus at Ole Miss ✅

Present day? Gimme four on the floor to Taylor Swift, I’ll sell them and pay for the rest of my kid’s college.

    1. Supertramp, circa 1980.

    2. The Tubes, circa 1978. Every song is a new floor show.

At some point in the mid-1990s, I was walking down Beale Street one Friday afternoon and ducked into BB King's to use the bathroom. I came out and heard somebody just wailing on the guitar. I go check it out and it's BB himself. There were less than 100 people in the room. He played for about 90 minutes, ran through all his classics and a lot of blues standards. One of the best accidental concerts I ever attended.

That’s awesome. That happened to us with Willie Nelson at Tootsie’s on a random Tuesday night once. It was an awesome show.

I’ll go the historic route …

    1. Prince, mid-1980s, when he was still touring with The Revolution.

    2. Pink Floyd, circa 1971 or 1972, when they were playing early versions of Dark Side songs in their sets.

Hm, if this is a nostalgia thread, John Prine and Steve Goodman, playing in a sideshow tent at Milwaukee's Summerfest.
Pink Floyd, March 1973 at the Dane County Coliseum (now the Alliant Center), Madison, Wis.

Also, I'd have to be about 20 years old.

Bonnaroo would seem like a trip to go to.
    That’s right in Mumfords wheelhouse.

I'd pay some serious cash for this one. Love The Tubes.
