Imus used to have a character in his voice.

Muni has that old-school radio voice. Love to listen to him.

Final sign off for WCBS. RIP. Good luck to all those great reporters now looking for work.

That's two sign-offs for the greater metropolitan area after WPLJ-FM in 2023. It had changed formats before but was the rock AOR go-to in the Seventies and early Eighties. 1010 WINS is still around, CBS News-affiliated and the oldest all-news station in the country.

As an old radio nerd, I can appreciate this.
    Cheers.

People 60 and up will be inconsolable when 1010 WINS leaves the dial.

Man….Imus was the grouchiest, most loving, nicest, grumpiest, generous, meanest son of a bitch in the world.
Gracious sakes I miss listening to him.

+1. However, suspect we're in the minority here.
FYI, the late Alan Colmes did the sign-off when WNBC switched to WFAN.

I just have no idea how Imus was popular. I did not get it.

But 1010WINS is like top 5 for billing in the country. Not saying it’s not possible, but it generates tons of cash

Just looked it up and PLJ is now a K-Love station? Holy cow.

Helped greatly by the addition of the FM simulcast on 92.3, something Audacy refused to do with ’CBS.
