Dear God, I don’t ask for much.

Just please let Hugh Freeze lose to a team from Berkeley, California, quarterbacked by Fernando Mendoza.

Please let Notre Dame lose to Northern Illinois.

You might be the most cold-hearted prick on the planet, but the wave at Kinnick to the kids makes it a little dusty in the room.

Maybe it's ingrained in me as a Protestant Michigander but Notre Dame, year after year, gets massive amounts of hype for being, well, slightly better than mediocre.

Yeah, Touchdown Jesus. Yeah, great fight song. Yeah, NBC flagellation. But their last national championship came in 1988.

They won the Sun Bowl last season and the Gator Bowl before that. And before that, choked away a Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma State and got waxed by Alabama in the Rose ... Bluebonnet? ... Bowl.

Knute Rockne and Ara Parshegian are dead. Why are AP voters so enamored with the Irish?

From the Network That Used To Air The Iron Bowl: Here's El Assico!

10-0 Iowa in the second quarter is downright lascivious, but I will say that they checked off a big box when the first drive of the game ended with the Hawkeyes punting from the Iowa State 39.

Is that Dan Hicks doing Notre Dame football on NBC?

Nepotism Jr. was demoted and Hicks was called back up when Notre Dame and NBC extended their deal.

    Fantastic.
Now he’s unlistenable in multiple sports.

Waiting for him to slip and call this the seasonlong race for the FedEx Cup.
