I think Trump keeps hearing/seeing that polls have him ahead on immigration, so that's literally all he's gonna crow about for a while. He doesn't even realize that that ramping it up, perhaps enough independents will realize he's such an idiotic, racist fool and few of the things he's ranting about are actually happening.
