    I doubt he was the first, but there seemed to be a run in the 1970s of country singers becoming decent actors, Jerry Reed, Mac Davis, Hoyt Axton, Willie. Kind of odd when you think about it.

    Hoyt Axton's wonderful performance in Gremlins elevated that movie so much and the type of role that is always be missing in souped up B-movies of today.

    There were a lot of bad Star Wars ripoffs and homages in the late 1970s, but somehow Kristofferson made Han Solo even cooler in this bizarre Osmonds episode.
