I think that's meant as an insult to me.

And of course all these stories.

Palin moving crowds and poll numbers

    The Palin effect

Here's the noted right-wing publication The New Republic:

The Mccain Bounce Or The Palin Bounce?

That's how conventions have traditionally worked, in any case. On the other hand, this was hardly a typical convention--I'm not sure a vice presidential pick has ever generated as much enthusiasm within a party and as much buzz overall as Sarah Palin. Which makes me wonder whether the source of the bounce is the convention per se, or Palin and her speech.

I should note that I am not a fan of Palin, never was, and see her as the forerunner to Trump. So me simply stating facts here is not a reflection of my opinion. It is a reflection of the facts as they happened.

It stopped dead as soon as Tina Fey uttered the words, "I can see Russia from my house!"

I think it had more to do with the economy really crashing in September. I think the general public saw a serious party vs. an unserious one, and it really exposed the Palin choice as dangerous (especially considering McCain's age and health) and with an overall campaign that didn't know how to properly react, even trying to pull off the stunt of suspending his campaign to fix the economy.

I don’t think the Biden/Palin had much effect because Palin’s popularity at the time of the debate had fallen. After the initial excitement of the GOP nominating a woman, her popularity trended down.

What Vance’s performance means is that the Trump agenda will live on for the 2028 campaign and beyond. Even if Harris sweeps the Swingin’ Seven, the GOP will conclude from the reaction to last night that they can get all the goodies they want from Project 2025 as long as they have a more agreeable figure at the wheel.
