In my defense, i had no idea you are white or a woman. Mea culpa.

My reference was to the many white suburban women that I know you were watching (not reading)) hillbilly elegy a few months back. The ones who say keep politics out of everything, but share racists memes. The ones who cling to doctored videos and stories to prove Trump right, but say they don’t support him.

Trump’s message is that they are coming to get you and ruin your way of life. The “they” doesn’t really matter, only that we shouldn’t let the old status quo be upset. Vance and his ilk try to put an intellectual support for that thesis, but it’s really the same thing, but worse. Women aren’t relevant unless they are having babies. Anything which disturbs their Ozzie and Harriet homogenized vision of the world is really just a matter of state’s rights which can be voted out by a gerrymandered legislature.

So let’s revisit this two weeks later. 46.1 percent in 2016, 46.8 percent in 2020 (when third party candidates weren’t really a factor). My hypothesis was he would grow from the 45.2 percent he was pulling as of Sept. 25 but eventually wind up about where he has before.

Today’s best guesstimate from FiveThirtyEight (because yes, we all know this isn’t exact) - 45.8 percent.

Since the beginning of September, that poll tracker has bounced around in the neighborhood of about a 2.3 percent to 3.0 percent lead for Harris, which creates the perception she can’t ever shake him. But ever so slowly, the percentage of voters each side is drawing inches up. So where she was drawing something like 47.8 percent a month ago, now it is 48.6 percent. People are beginning to make up their minds (and third party support is starting to melt away, which it always does at the end).

There are still more votes out there Donald Trump can get, but a bit fewer every day. And while a majority of the vote doesn’t guarantee the electoral college, it’s a whole helluva lot easier to pull off from first place.

Bottom line: We vote, we win.

Like when I hear them talk about how groceries and gas was cleanser their watch. So what's the plan? All I hear is "drill baby drill" and "tarriffs!"

Trump’s policies are “it wouldn’t have happened on my watch” or “I would have handled it in the most beautiful phone call you’ve ever seen”. Not to be hyperbolic, but if you vote for him (even if JD was smoother than Walz) you are voting for the end of the American democratic experiment.

Or their guns or religion or antipathy... "cling" might not be the best word choice here.

No offense intended, but me, vote for Trump? Not even for dog catcher.

Vance reminded me of the guys who knock on your door and try to sell you a new driveway, pest removal, or new gutters.

Smooth talkers. But everything they say is a lie.

Again, if they lose it won't be for lack of trying

Well, that would definitely not be me.:) I've never watched, or read "Hillbilly Elegy," I try to keep up with politics, and read and listen to a lot of it, with a journalist's eye/mind. I hate memes and never use them, and I try to avoid anything about Trump unless I know it's from a reputable source. And I hope I've usually shown all that on here.
