Overlooking all of the awful church-and-state stuff of it, what kind of fucking idiot wants to buy leather or leather-ish bound books for a school system?

With regard to the dockworker's strike, I'm probably behind the curve as I really didn't dig into it much. They were asking for more money because the big shipping company's profits had risen around 800% since Covid. Management and shareholders had been getting theirs and the workers wanted some too. Changed my perspective a bit. The automation part of the negotiation, that they're unlikely to change much over the long term. I can't blame them for wanting to get a bite of the pie while they can.
