So Florida's about to be scattered, smothered, covered, chunked and diced.

Prior to Katrina, there was a Waffle House two blocks from my home. Man, I ate there too much.
After Katrina, it ceased to exist.

Friend of mine is 30ish miles northeast of Tampa. He’s in law enforcement so he has to stay. He says things are “tense” waiting today.

DeSantis is often a clown, getting into boogeyman fights with Disney and school boards.

In matters of hurricane prep and response, he is excellent.

Speaking of hurricanes hitting in the dark, here are my own words from my journal as I sat in the middle of Hurricane Matthew almost exactly eight years ago. I must have written this sometime shortly after sunrise on Oct. 8, 2016.

"It's funny how the last hour before dawn seems to last forever when you are in a bad situation. Although dawn wasn't going to magically restore the power, at least having light makes the situation seem a little less dire."

Biden just took Trump, MTG and the rest of the lying sacks of shit out the woodshed on national TV. It was a beautiful takedown.

My 85-year-old aunt is riding it out in her building in downtown St. Pete's, (her daughter and husband are in a hotel not far away) and I thought it was very amusing - and very appropriate - when she referenced Florida guy Tom Petty and said she finally had to turn off the TV because "the waiting is the hardest part".

Thanks! I told her to save the power in her phone and tablet to contact her daughter, I'd get updates from them. My buddy is very concerned about his place in Sarasota which, last I looked, was in a voluntary evacuation zone, but isn't too far from Siesta Key. He knows people in the complex who live there year round who aren't leaving. We were down there for the first time in May, great area.

Not their first rodeo. They have a big playbook for these things down there. Started with JEB! and has continued on ever since.
