Watched The Bikeriders on the plane today.

Wasn't all that special. They tried wrapping it around Austin Butler but Tom Hardy (with his dangling cigarettes) was the star of the show.

Not sure I've ever seen Jodie Comer before ... she was strong.

Queenpins. Pretty funny caper comedy with Kristen Bell, Vince Vaughn and a very funny Paul Walter Hauser. Lots of famous faces in supporting roles.

I liked it but I don't know why I liked it? It wasn't much of a crime thriller and even as a straight-up drama, the movie itself seemed to wander away and lose interest a whole lot. But I'll certainly watch it again gladly.

Chock it up to the intangibles, I guess.

They tried to make it a series of scenes where the camera is trained on Butler being so dreamy!

He seems like the new Robert Pattinson ca. Twilight.

May be late to the game on this one, but caught Speak No Evil over the weekend. Not my choice, but was pleasantly surprised. Decent storyline, James McAvoy was an outstanding villain.

Pet peeve that my wife is sick of hearing me bitch about when we go see something in the theater - between the commercials and coming attractions, it sometimes feels like the pre-movie stuff is as long as the movie itself. How about a PSA to shut your fucking phone off, then 3 solid previews and get to the movie? And yes, I'm yelling and shaking my fist at the clouds.

"Kodachrome," the 2017 film with Ed Harris and Jason Sudeikis. The estranged father/son storyline and obligatory hookup between the son and dad's nurse made for a meh plot.

But as someone who began his journalism career shooting and developing film, the nostalgia and thoughts about photography were spot-on and enjoyable. The credits were great as they showed photos taken around the word on Kodachrome slides.

Jesus' Son with Billy Crudup and Samantha Morton as the world's healthiest-looking heroin addict. Loaded cast: Michael Shannon (billed as Mike), Denis Leary, Dennis Hopper, Holly Hunter, Jack Black. Based on the acclaimed short story collection.

    Love that movie.

One of my message-board iterations was as Fuckhead, in tribute to Crudup.

"Woman of the Hour"'---Anna Kendrick's very self-assured directorial debut. Tense and unsettling with good period detail and a cast of mostly unknown (to me) actors.

Kendrick plays a character quite similar to some of her previous roles, but in a different time period (late 70s), who reluctantly agrees to appear on an episode of the Dating Game. The guy she picks unbelievably (but true, based on real life) was a serial killer.
